Foundation Board Call OCTOBER 16, 2023 – MINUTES

Present: Mike Markovits, Mary Ruth Gross, Ellie Putnam, Cynthia Phinney, Rudy Nickens, Tommy Atz

The board did not meet in September.

Rudy moved and Mary Ruth seconded a motion to move $20,000 to the Chicano/a Liberation Fund. The motion passed unanimously.

Foundation Board Call AUGUST 21, 2023 – MINUTES

Present: Present: Mike Markovits, Mary Ruth Gross, Cynthia Phinney, Susan Whitlock, Tommy Atz

A motion was made and seconded and passed to approve the slate of officers submitted by the Nominating Committee. They are as follows: Cynthia Phinney – Secretary, Mary Ruth Gross – Treasurer, Rudy Nickens – Vice President, Mike Markovits – President.

The executive committee was established as a standing committee and shall consist of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary.

The Board will not meet in September.

Foundation Board Call JUNE 26, 2023 – MINUTES

A grant for $8000 for the Taiwan fund was approved.

A motion was made by Rudy seconded by Ellie and passed to authorize Mike to hire someone for the Office Manager position.

Foundation Board Call APRIL 17,2023 – MINUTES

Present: Mike Markovits, Ellie Putnam, Cynthia Phinney

Mike made a motion and Ellie seconded to approve Susan Whitlock to join the Board effective April 18, 2023. The motion carried.

Amended language for notice in the bylaws to modernize for electronic communications was approved.

Foundation Board Call MARCH 20, 2023 – MINUTES

The Board approved five grant requests:

  • Chuck Esser request for South Sudan/Uganda for $10,000 to go into the South Central West Asian Liberation fund,
  • Ellie Putnam request for French-speaking Africa — $10,640 from the Technology Fund for cell phones (10 people) and data plans (19 people)
  • From Mike Markovits two requests to bring two funds into the black
    • $10,000 into the South Central West Asian Fund
    • $20,000 into  the Chicano/Chicana fund
  • From Chioma a request for $26,820 from the Technology Fund for teacher training in West Africa is approved.
